Emily & Marshall's Prewedding Shoot.

As my clients will all tell you I love to get together with the couple for an "engagement session" before the big day. It is a great way to break the ice and get comfortable in front of the lens. It's also fun to look back at images from that period in life without the stiff wedding garb. Usually, we spend a few hours together shooting at a leisurely pace going to more than one location if we can.

Emily and Marshall live in LA and were only in town for this one weekend before their wedding so there was lots to do with the families, including the bridal shower! It is winter and sunset was at 5:26pm so we knew it was going to be a challenge - after arriving we had about 15 minutes before the architecture obscured the sunlight. We left the Palace of Fine Arts in total darkness. Later, we warmed up at Starbucks in the Marina District and did a little more shooting there. Emily - hot chocolate, Marshall - white chocolate mocha, Karl - latte.

Come back at the end of February to check out images from their event in Long Beach, CA. I have the feeling the wedding will be a blast!

Miwa & Ron's Wedding. San Francisco

Ceremony and reception at the San Francisco Asian Art Museum.

I finally have time to post some images from a wedding I recently photographed with Poh Lim. I know it appears to be pretty quiet right now, but many things are happening at Karl Ko Photography. Stay tuned!

As some of you may know, the Asian Art Museum is one of the City's premier venues. It is really an incredible place to celebrate a wedding and I was lucky enough to photograph one there. We started at the Hotel Nikko where the bride, groom, and their families were getting ready. The couple is Japanese and Chinese thus you will note many of the cultural traditions on display in the photographs to follow. Ikebana, kimonos, lanterns, lion dances... Their wedding and reception were beautiful.
