What do wedding photographers do on "off" weekends? We photograph weddings of course! This past weekend I worked at Rockaway Beach with a great photographer and friend Poh Lim. Delia and Randy were wonderful and they were really gung ho for shooting the sunset which is one of the great features of this beach. Its sand is also darker in color contributing some great contrast to the photographs.
When we were photographing the guys, I have to admit it was a little hard to resist watching the Michigan - Notre Dame game which they had on in the room. After I saw the score though, working was no longer a problem. ;-)

What a fun couple and laid back wedding! During one of our first meetings they joked about wanting just a simple barbeque. Well, it wasn't a complete joke as the bride and groom donned his and her apron-like coverings during the reception to dine on brisket, ribs, chicken, cornbread, beans, etc.
We started in Danville at the Adora Bella Salon where Laura was assisted by her cute puppy. Then it was off to the home of Michelle's mother to get dressed. We thought we were late but guests were just starting to arrive for the four o'clock ceremony as we drove up with the bride. The rest is history. Michelle and Bob are just about to leave for their honeymoon, an Alaskan cruise - which reminds me that I should post some pictures of my family trip there. It's an amazing place!

Another great couple I met through the videographer More Than Memories. I have enjoyed spending time with MIchelle and Bob over the last six months. They were my excuse to drink coffee and eat at North Beach Pizza! We also enjoyed great weather during their pre-wedding shoot at Baker Beach in the Presidio.
We started early at the Embassy Suites in Burlingame where - as luck would have it - there was little wind so working outdoors was possible. Off to the church... Wow, you should really check out the stained glass at St. Robert's! After the ceremony the wedding party stopped briefly at Central Park in San Mateo and then we continued to the PIASC where, I am told, the meatballs are really good. The guests enjoyed the music as the dance floor seemed packed up until the end. Even a couple of polka's were thrown in ;-)
Ceremony at St. Victor's in San Jose with reception at the Newark/Fremont Hilton.
They came up all the way from San Diego just to have me photograph their wedding! OK, I admit some parts of that statement are exaggerated... After a string of 100+ degree days Jennifer and Michael brought some cooler temperatures with them into town making our side trip to Ed Levin Park much more pleasant.
Makeup and hair central was at the home of Jennifer's parents. The ladies left for the church in an extended Hummer limo which turned the heads of neighbors as it idled in front of the house. I think it was as long as the house was wide! Formal group shots culminated in a huge family photograph where I managed to fit everyone in. After a brief ride in the limo the wedding party was in good spirits ;) at the Ed Levin location shoot. Off to the hotel when, sometime during the reception, everyone seemingly changed into their Jordan's. Hmmm, I don't recall ever receiving the memo.
Ceremony and reception at the Golden Gate Yacht Club.
Guests were served high tea in the Commodore Room looking out over the bay. The fog was dense but the Rock was still visible.
This couple is literally starting a new life together! Shortly after their wedding Sarah and Nate are moving across the country to Georgia where Nate will start work on a couple of graduate degrees. Congratulations and good luck!
